Can the UN do its Job?

Can the UN do its job? Can it stop wars? Can it stop famine? Can it stop genocide?
To answer these questions you have to look at the issue deeper. Has there been War, Famine and genocide since the UN has been formed? Yes there has been. Has the UN tried to stop it ? Yes it has, but failed most of the time.

The current form of the UN is flawed and weak. The security council wields to much power. And its made up of nations that have different agenda's. Think about the nations on the security council they disagree with each other all the time on their on interests. Darfur Sudan is a classic example. China is blocking anything being done about Darfur because of oil. The UN has tried to get sanctions on Sudans government but has failed every time because of a few nation such as china. So how do we stop the genocide in Darfur? According to what I have seen from the UN we cant.

The UN reminds me the war in Balkans lately as well.

The UN is now weak like how you said. It's working for opportunities of 'more' powerful countries.

Maybe the whole world leaders should stop everything, and start to consider new solutions for a better living chance.

Or we need to wait Marduk or someone from Mars!
