Is the US goverment broke?

Is the goverment of the US broke?

1. Only two parties are really in power. Usually the two extremes Liberal vs. Conservatives Moderates are left out. This is very dangerous. Why do we as americans limit ourselves to these two choices? This has lead to bi-polar political spectrum that is getting worse.
2. The goverment is 200 years old. Its very big. Its based on a system that really does not exist in the way that it was meant to. When the goverment was created 200+ year ago it was made up of 13 states that shared common threats. Today the US is called THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA... Then it was called THESE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The federal goverment and state goverment concept is good but many of thier powers overlap and create huge goverment. For example the dept of education is listed as a state power but the federal goverment has its own dept of education. Does our goverment run effecient? Can it ?
3. Power of the elite special Interests. Who really gets the ear of the politicians? What really gets laws passed? Immigration policy 80% of American wants the borders enforced but the goverment does nothing. Why are they doing nothing its much deeper then you think.
4. Finally I have say that the people of the USA are broke also. The dis-interest they have in the goverment is appalling. They complain about the goverment yet do nothing about it on election day. They vote for the same two parties. They do not really bother to read about the issues and they do not hold politicians to the fire. They no nothing of the world around them and they wonder why thier wealth might be declining? They are to interested in American Idol or some other TV show or movie. In order for our goverment to work we have to work.

It is really interesting to see that here in Turkey we are living the same problem you wrote on no.4.

Many people are complaining about somethings but never make a move to change what they dislike about the government.

And more than this so many people have no idea about national politics here. Just deaf and blind. Only watching silly tv shows. (We also have similar programs like American Idol here.)

Is this the soul of this Era? Or is this what the US world politics done to whole world? lol

One more thing about your no.1 problem.

Here in Turkey we have too many political parties.

It was generally difficult to found up a powerful government of a single party in the assembly because of having too many parties.

However now it seems like we are running into a bi-polarized system as well.

Today's leader party (AKP) is forcing it's edges of being the governing party, and is trying to do whatever he wants.

Laicism and democratical rights seem to be in danger with this government, but it is such a pity that rest of the world is supporting AKP as they showed themselves as a "democratic political party".

Nevertheless to say that AKP is just a threat to the secular system of Turkey. And the leftist parties of Turkey are inefficient to find a solution on this real big problem.

I just hope that leftist parties can get much effective, and also citizens may get awear of the danger and make better decisions on the next election before it is too late.

No I think this has always been the case. I think we in the US have seen both of our parties become more extreme.. One goes to far to the left and the other goes to far to the right..
I do not think the US has done this to the world. I think Moderates have done this to the world because they often do not voice their concerns. Moderates are often the unspoken majority. They are not the ones you see protesting like fringe elements of both parties. Because of this you see Liberals and Conservatives being heard and the moderates are often never heard.
